Your hospital stay

Our high standards of medical and nursing care are complemented by our excellent catering and housekeeping services. 

Your room

Our Premium+ patients are guaranteed a private room with an ensuite bathroom and shower.  Each room has satellite television, a direct dial telephone with free local calls and internet access with unlimited wi-fi as well as comfortable seating for your visitors.

Our catering

Our menus offer a full range of nutritionally balanced meals to aid your recovery.  We cater for all dietary requirements including vegetarian, halal, kosher and special diets such as gluten-free.  Your visitors are also welcome to join you for meals or drinks in your room, any such items will be charged to your account.

Parents and carers

We encourage parents or carers to stay overnight with their child if they wish.

Patient Relations

Our Patient Relations Team are here to attend to any non-clinical issues and requests you may have during your stay.  We can offer a variety of services or help with any special requests, as well as ensure that your questions, concerns and compliments are addressed immediately.

While you are in the hospital, a member of the Patient Relations Team will visit you daily. 

Your care

During your stay in hospital, it is your consultant who will take personal responsibility for directing your care and treatment. The hospital also has a resident doctor, known as an RMO (Resident Medical Officer) who is on site 24 hours a day.

Nurses work different shift patterns but care for specific patients each day.  Your nurse will always introduce themselves at the beginning of their shift and will then visit you at regular intervals.  You may also call for a nurse at any time by using the nurse call button beside your bed.

Consenting to treatment

Consultants and nursing staff need your consent before examining or treating you.  If your treatment involves sedation or a general anaesthetic you will be asked to sign a consent form (you can withdraw your consent, if you later change your mind).

Infection prevention

Please be assured that we take the prevention of infection very seriously, for example, our bathroom furniture has an antibacterial additive built into it providing a unique and effective defence against germs for the duration of the product’s life.  However, there are also many things you can do including:

  • Bring personal toiletries and a container of moist hand-wipes with you.
  • Ensure you always wash your hands after using the toilet.
  • We provide a moist hand-wipe on your meal tray, use it at the start of the meal to ensure your hands are clean before you eat.
  • Staff routinely wash their hands or clean them with special alcohol rubs but if you do not see them do so, please do not be afraid to insist that they do so.
  • Unless instructed otherwise (by the physiotherapist, for example) wear something on your feet when walking around in hospital.
  • Inform your friends and family not to visit if they have coughs, colds or any other illness.
  • Let us know if you or any of your close family has been an inpatient in an NHS hospital or nursing home in the past year.
