Endocrinology is the branch of general medicine concerned with the collection of glands in the body that produce hormones. The endocrine system includes the thyroid gland, pancreas, testes, ovaries and adrenal glands.

We offer regular clinics with Consultant Endocrinologists in our outpatients department. Our Consultant Endocrinologists, many of whom also have substantive posts within the NHS, are all experts in their fields and some of the most experienced local consultants and specialists. You'll have the same consultant managing your care, from your first outpatient visit through to any treatment.

Our endocrinology clinics are supported by our onsite laboratory for the analysis of any blood or other pathology tests that may be required to aid diagnosis. Your consultant will also work closely with other specialists within the hospital as appropriate.

Our consultant endocrinologists offer rapid diagnosis and ongoing care for a variety of hormone-related problems including:

  • adrenal gland problems
  • diabetes
  • excessive hair growth in women
  • lipid disorders
  • obesity
  • pituitary gland disorders.

You will usually need to be referred to see a hospital consultant by a GP or other healthcare professional. Speak to your GP and ask them to refer you to The Holly Hospital.
