Sports Massage

Did you know that during the London 2012 Olympics, sports massage accounted for 36 per cent of treatment provided to athletes, second only to physiotherapy?

But sports massage isn’t just for athletes.

Many of us work at a desk job which can cause a lot of postural and back problems. Just think how much stress is placed on the body when you spent eight hours a day at a desk followed by one hour of high-intensity exercise.

Benefits of sports massage
Sports massage works by warming up the muscle and physically stretching out the connective tissue, bringing fresh, oxygenated blood to the muscles which results in a healthy, pliable muscle. It also takes care of the ligaments and tendons, and releases the fine sheath, called a fascia, that covers the entire muscular system and which, if out of alignment, can cause all sorts of unpleasant aches, pains or injuries.

Sports massage can:
•    reduce the risk of injury
•    improve recovery from training
•    help with lymphatic drainage allowing toxins (such as lactic acid, which builds up after heavy training, giving you cramp) to leave the body quicker.
